The 2011 Cathedral Golf Open

An Overview of the  Day

The 8th Annual Cathedral Golf Open was held on Friday, September 16, 2011 at The Elkridge Club in Baltimore. The School of the Cathedral parents, friends and sponsors, joined together for a day of camaraderie and healthy competition. We thank Cathedral Open Co-Chairs, John Boote ‘81 and Pat Franklin, for their dedication to this wonderful annual event.

The school community is grateful to the McGeady Family, the Major Sponsor, for their continued generous support. Before a sold out crowd of golfers, our Rector, Monsignor J. Bruce Jarboe gave a blessing to start the day’s round of golf.  Players purchased raffles and mulligans, enjoyed lunch and headed to their designated starting position for the shotgun start at 1:00 pm.

Golfers enjoyed pleasant temperatures, on a perfect late summer day.  They received a complimentary vest with the Mustang Logo on it as a gift for playing in the outing! Afterwards, golfers gathered on the outside patio to enjoy heavy hors d’ oeuvres and cocktails. Golfers dined on sliced beef, crab dip, chicken skewers and other delicious appetizers provided by the Elkridge Club. Raffle winners were pleased to win a variety of fabulous prizes during the dinner.

The Cathedral Open Golf Classic raised over $12,900 for the school. Many thanks to chairs John Boote ’81 and Pat Franklin and committee for providing such a wonderful community-building event that generated funds for The School of the Cathedral Endowment Fund and tuition assistance. Special thanks to Mike McGeady and family for being our major sponsor once again this year.

We would also like to thank our Major Sponsor, the McGeady Family, and our Event Sponsors:  All Risks, LLC, DavCo Restaurants, Exeter Government Services, and Innovative Services and Solutions, LLC. The School of the Cathedral also sincerely appreciates the support of our Hole and Birdie Sponsors, and for all of the donations made by many of the local establishments.  With their generous donations our outing was a success!
