Notes from the Principal's Desk: Christmas Convocation, Re-Enrollment, and more!
SCMOQ CoVid-19 Dashboard
We hope that everyone had an enjoyable and Happy Thanksgiving Holiday. It was great to see the students after Thanksgiving, even if it was only online. In September, we asked families to complete a CoVid-19 Wellness Survey to gain feedback at the start of this unique school year. As the end of the 1st Trimester draws to a close, we ask our families once again to complete a survey to assess students' and family needs. We thank the 77 people who have already responded to the survey. If you have not already completed the survey, we encourage you to do so. This survey does offer some open-ended response questions to help us discern any themes regarding feedback within the community.
Please respond to the survey for only one of your children. If you have more than one child at Cathedral, you can complete the survey again for your other children. The survey will close on Friday, December 11. You can access the survey here: End of 1st Trimester Parent Survey
It is hard to believe that there are only 14 school days until Christmas break. I am sure everyone is looking forward to Christmas and celebrating the Advent season. One of the traditions at school is our Christmas Convocation. Unfortunately, this year we have to change the convocation format due to the CoVid-19 restrictions and social distancing. Rather than bring the entire school community together, we will be producing a virtual Christmas convocation this year. Over the next few weeks, we will be recording the convocation segments and creating a video to share with the community in December before we leave from Christmas break.
It is hard to imagine, but now is when we begin re-enrollment for current families. The re-enrollment fee for families who commit on or before January 1, 2021, is $300 per student, with $225 applied to the 21-22 tuition. After January 1, 2021, the fee is $325 per student, with $225 applied to the 21-22 tuition. The re-enrollment deadline is February 15, 2021. All re-enrollment fees are non-refundable.
Trimester 2 and Looking Ahead
Today we welcomed back the 100% remote learners from the 1st Trimester who have chosen to return for in-person instruction following our hybrid plan. Given the current national trends and state positivity rate, we cannot bring students back yet for five days a week instruction. However, we want to be prepared when the opportunity presents itself to allow us to do so. As we begin to explore this possibility, the role of parent volunteers who can act as proctors in classrooms will be critical.
We are incredibly grateful to all those parents who have signed up to volunteer at school.
It is anticipated we will need at least 35 parent volunteers, spread equally among the 2nd through 8th grade, who can commit to being in school at least once a week to proctor a classroom for students who are not in a room with a teacher.
If you are interested in volunteering when the opportunity presents itself to bring more students back for in-person learning, please complete this interest form, Parent Volunteer Interest Form, and we will respond to you as soon as possible. There is no need to respond if you have already completed the form.
Finally, I would like to thank all of those who donated to the school on #GivingTuesday. It was a great success, and in the spirit of the season of giving, we ask that you consider contributing to the Christmas drive beginning on Monday.
