Notes from the Principal's Desk: April 28, 2022

We pray that everyone had a restful and enjoyable Easter break. It is hard to imagine that it is only 24 days until our 8th grade students graduate! And only 28 Days until the last day of school for our K-7 students. The end of the school year is sure to fly by as the weather gets warmer and we hold more events as we wrap up the end of the year.

Cardinal Cup


Each year, the School of the Cathedral hosts the Cardinal Cup run and walk to support Mother Seton Academy (MSA). Net proceeds and 100% of sponsorship donations go directly to MSA. With more than 500 participants in 2019, the Cardinal Cup not only raised much-needed funds for Mother Seton Academy but created a sense of shared community and fellowship for everyone involved.

The 5K race begins at 8:00 am and the 1-mile fun run at 8:05 am. Please pick up your packet at 7:00 am Saturday, April 30th. Entry fees are $25 per individual (ages 15 and older), $30 on race day, $20 per individual (ages 14 and younger) with a maximum of $100 per family.

We hope that you can attend and help support the building of community with our sister school, Mother Seton Academy.

Removal of Modular Trailers

I am incredibly grateful for everyone's patience during the removal of the modular trailers. Unfortunately, it took longer than expected, but we are happy they have finally been removed, and we can prepare to put in the outdoor learning pavilion this summer.

Staff Updates for the 2022-2023 School Year

We are excited to announce that we have hired a Pre-K4 teacher for the 2022-2023 school year. Right before Easter break, Ms. Toya Back accepted our offer to be our Pre-K 4 teacher! She has excellent experience as a Pre-K teacher, and the hiring team is confident in her abilities to be a success.

We are still in the process of hiring a Pre-K4 instructional assistant. If you or someone you know is interested in this position, please visit the website to apply.
We have also been in the process of interviewing candidates for Assistant Principal next year. We have interviewed numerous candidates and plan on making an announcement within the next two weeks.
Finally, we wanted to make everyone aware that two staff members will be leaving us next year and two teachers will be changing grade levels next year. We wish the best of luck to Sr. Jane Moran and Christine Unitas as they move on to the next adventures ahead of them.

Additionally, we want to share that Ms. Courtney will be moving to 4th grade, and Ms. Paranzino will be moving to 3rd grade. We believe these switch will best support the students and intermediate team and look forward to what they bring to those grades next year.

Grandparents & Special Friends Day - Donate a Book!


Grandparents and Special Friends are invited to donate a book to our library in honor of your grandchild. Each book is chosen by your grandchild and adorned with a personalized bookplate.

Support your grandchild's literacy today! Each book is $20 and our goal is $1800. (90 books) Donations also support our visiting author program- returning SY22-23!

BOOST Deadline is Friday, April 29

The deadline for your current and prospective students to apply for the Broadening Options and Opportunities for Students Today (BOOST) Scholarship Program is Friday, April 29, 2022.

Please ensure all eligible parents have applied by next Friday! The English and Spanish applications can be found on the right side of the page at

Please don’t forget that if a child has a scholarship for the current school year, you MUST REAPPLY for the next school year to renew their scholarship. 

Calendar Update - The K-7 Promotion & Awards Ceremony

The K-7 Promotion & Awards Ceremony on June 8th will be held in the classrooms and not in the gym. This is a change from what is on the calendar.

Looking Ahead

  • The Painting Workshop art classes for Cathedral students held in Mount Washington begin on April 28th and will run for four consecutive Thursdays. The cost is $100 and space is limited, so sign up here

  • Bootcamp & BBQ on the Cathedral Turf 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm. Join us for a 30-minute exercise class, a delicious lunch, and lots of fun! Boys are invited to bring their mothers, grandmothers, aunts, or special friends. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased by downloading MySchoolWallet:
