Notes from the Principal's Desk: Dress Down day tomorrow, Cardinal Cup, and more

You did it!
Last week I challenged the school community to subscribe to the school’s YouTube channel with the incentive of a dress down day, tomorrow, Friday the 26th if we gained 100 more subscribers. I am happy to announce that we have reached that goal! So this Friday, we will have a school-wide dress-down day.

The Cardinal Cup
Each year, the School of the Cathedral hosts the Cardinal Cup run and walk to support Mother Seton Academy (MSA).  Net proceeds and 100% of sponsorship donations go directly to MSA. With more than 500 participants in 2019, the Cardinal Cup not only raised much-needed funds for Mother Seton Academy but created a sense of shared community and fellowship for everyone involved.

This year due to the pandemic, The School of the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen and Mother Seton Academy invite everyone to participate in this year's VIRTUAL Cardinal Cup 5K Run and Family Fun 1-Mile Walk. You can participate any day of the weekend - Friday, April 23rd through Sunday, April 25th - wherever you are!

To participate in this great event, please register here!

Service Opportunity
On behalf of The School of the Cathedral, I would like to personally acknowledge the horrific events in Atlanta and Colorado. We recognize that each person and family will process these events in their own way and timeline. Please do not hesitate to reach out if there is anything we can do to help support or provide assistance to your family during these difficult times.

Closer to home, Baltimore City also experiences a tragic loss of life each year. If you are troubled by this fact and wondering how you can help, please consider volunteering for a ministry the Archdiocese of Baltimore has created to offer support and healing to families in Baltimore City who have lost a loved one to violence. In conjunction with other agencies and nonprofits, the archdiocese Grief Ministry offers a way for Parish communities to assist, such as prayers, sympathy notes, food, baby items, and other support as needed to families. Volunteer training is provided. To learn more or sign up, go to, or contact Mary Ellen Russell at

Email Interruption
We want to take a moment to let the community know that The Catholic Center Division of Information Technology will be performing our monthly systems maintenance Friday, March 26th, 2021.

The system maintenance will begin at 6 pm and should last for approximately 8 hours.  During this period, the school’s email services will be impacted. Any interruption to our email should be resolved by Saturday, March 27th.
