Notes from the Principal's Desk: Giving Tuesday, updates, and Ravens fun

We would like to thank everyone who participated in #GivingTuesday.  We had great success with over 97 donors and raised $4,827! Last year we raised $3,000 from 35 donors. That’s a 177% increase in participation and a 61% increase in funds raised!  So far, the total raised for the Annual Fund is $42,015.52, which is 65% of our goal.

We would also like to share some faculty and staff updates.  Mrs. Lemon, our 6th grade homeroom teacher has accepted a position with Baltimore County schools beginning in January. It was a difficult decision for Mrs. Lemon as she loves the Cathedral community.  However, this transition is what is best for her family at this time. We are grateful to Mrs. Lemon for her dedication to the students, faculty, staff, and parents of Cathedral during her tenure and wish her the best of luck in her future endeavors. We have many irons in the fire, including hiring a new full-time teacher or a long-term sub, in regards to Mrs. Lemon’s replacement, and we hope to share more information with the community soon.  But rest assured we will be sure to find the right replacement who meets the needs of thestudents and believes in our mission as a Catholic parish school.

We would also like to share with everyone that Jane Blusiewicz has accepted a position at Cardinal Sheehan School beginning next week.  Mrs. Blusiewicz, who works in thebusiness department, has been at Cathedral for over thirty years! She is excited about this new opportunity, and we wish her the best of luck in her new role as well.  Any questions regarding billing or tuition payments should be directed to Sue Seiler, sseiler@cmoq.orgor  410-464-4104, who will be able to direct your need/request to the appropriate person responsible in the business office.

Tomorrow is Spirit Day at Cathedral.  Students are permitted to dress down if they wear any Cathedral Spirit wear.  This includes new items from the Mustang Market as well as older Cathedral Spirit wear.

This Saturday we will be holding Admissions Testing beginning at 8 AM.  Also on Saturday, the fourth grade will celebrate their Class Mass at the 5 PM Liturgy.  Afterward, we hope everyone can join us for the annual Christmas Tree lighting. Today is the last day to sign up for Tree Lighting (do so here).

Shhh…'s a secret!  We all know that the Ravens are having a spectacular season.  And there is no bigger fan of the Ravens at Cathedral than our own Mr. Gerard.  The Student Council is raising funds to purchase Mr. Gerard a Ravens Jersey and tickets to an upcoming game!  On Wednesday, December 11th, we will have a Ravens Dress Down Tag Day. We ask students to bring in a $2 donation to raise money so the students can give Mr. Gerard a special Christmas present.  Remember, it’s a secret, so don’t let him know what we are doing!

God bless,
Michael Wright
