Notes from the Principal's Desk: Parent-Teacher Conferences, 100% Remote Learner Intent Form, Family Income Survey + Grant and Aid Applications

To date, we have had two close contacts with individuals in the school. Both parties have or are quarantining and have tested negative.

This week interim reports went out for most of the students. Interim reports are useful for parents and students because they provide a quick check on student performance mid-way through a trimester. They are not a final report or grade, and in most cases, as more assignments are completed and entered, student grades will improve. If your child is performing below expectations or you have a question regarding the report, we encourage you to set up a phone call with your child's teacher. Many factors can impact student performance, and we want to work with families to provide a supportive academic team.

100% Remote-Learner Intent Form

The intent form for families who are 100% remote learners went out earlier this week. Only families who are 100% remote learners need to complete the form. Families' option to attend school remotely was an essential component of the Archdiocese of Baltimore's and the School of the Cathedral's reopening plan for the 2020-21 academic year. In preparation for the 2nd Trimester (November 30th- March 4th), it is essential that we know your plans.

The in-person option will again likely include attending school based on the current hybrid schedule.

The remote learning option, as before, will require that your child be available for learning at home during the hours of our school day. Students who opt for this learning mode will be provided with synchronous learning experiences, independent work, and opportunities to meet one-on-one or in small groups with teachers. Students will engage in the same content as students learning in-person and will be assessed using the same criteria. Students will engage in remote learning five days a week, and students will be given the opportunity to return to school in-person at the end of the second trimester.

If your family is learning 100% remotely, please complete the intent form by Monday, October 26th, if you have not already done so. We ask that you complete one intent form for each student enrolled at school.

Change requests will be accommodated if space is available.

Family Income Survey
The deadline to complete the Family Income Survey is Friday, October 23rd. This form is critical to complete because it helps determine the types and amounts of grants available to the school. If you have not completed the form yet, please do so today. You can find the survey here:
Income Survey Link 20-21 SY

Don't forget that next Friday, October 30th is a Black and Orange dress down day. Friday the 30th is also a half-day of school with dismissal at 11:50 AM. Please make sure to have arrangements for pick-up. A Cohort students will have a dress down day on Monday, November 2nd.
